kiwi sorbet

I’m allergic to bananas, apples, and most melons (thankfully not watermelons), so I often get kiwi in my veg box. This is a challenging fruit for me and they often build up. Today I decided to make breakfast sorbet, using veg box kiwis and raspberries, and it is really lovely and very pretty.

I tried out this kitchen appliance called a “Yonanas.” It is basically a soft serve ice cream maker that turns frozen bananas into soft serve. I’m not gonna lie, this is a one hit wonder kitchen appliance. As it happens, I have a secret love of one hit wonders. Ordinarily a banana-focused one hit wonder wouldn’t be my cup of tea, and I already have an ice cream maker, but this is kinda great. It is easy, makes super fast vegan soft serve (with only fruit), and the clean up is fast and easy.

Truth be told, I was probably destined to like this machine. I’m not a huge fan of smoothies (shock, I know). Most of the time I can’t have them (apples and bananas are usually the base). I find them overwhelming. For me, they tend to be too cold, too big, and too thick. This breakfast sorbet is a little bowl of perfect. It is just kiwi, a bit of lime juice, and nothing else. The texture is lovely and soft. There is not too much of it and you can top it with a few nice soft berries. Just nice. Also probably nice with bananas if they don’t make you sick.
