purple soup

Well, I still have my giant purple cabbage. Like an old friend, it waited patiently for me to return and I did. I decided to take my friend Sarah’s advice to make it into Anna Jones’s Purple Pickled Cabbage Soup, figuring that would use up the rest of this lovely cabbage. Nope. Still have some cabbage. But the soup is great! It is an alarmingly purple soup, I won’t lie, but it’s got great flavour and with the fried cabbage and nuts on top, some good texture. I’m allergic to apples, so I substituted pear for apples. I didn’t have dill, so used fresh chives, and added yogurt on top for some added colour, tang, and creaminess (I had a bit of yogurt left and it needed to get used up).
