savoury french toast

This is so easy and a good use of stale bread and a few lonely veg. Here is what you do: mix 2 eggs, about 1/2c of milk, lemon pepper, sumac, and salt in a small pie plate. Let the stale bread soak in a pie plate (flip it over to make sure both sides are coated) until the egg mix is basically absorbed by the bread. Preheat oven to 180C/350F. Fry the bread to get the nice colour (maybe 2 mins per side), then put on a baking sheet. Grate a bit of leftover cheese on top of the fried bread (I had gruyere, but any melty cheese will do), so the asparagus will stick (I sliced them in half so they would lay flat and cook faster), and baked the whole thing for maybe 10 mins.
